The world
Welcome to Velvet Knife Studios
Eleven soundstages, a private security force, and a legal department that works nights. From the street it is a prestige studio with a waiting list. Inside, it is a closed system with its own currency — access, footage, leverage.
Careers are made in the screening rooms on the west side of the lot. Everything else happens after the crews go home, on schedules nobody files.
Velvet Knife does not lose people. It reassigns them.

Main Gate
“Wanting inside doesn't mean you're allowed inside.”

Stage Four
“Where performance stops being performance.”

Lower Three
“Most people working at Velvet Knife will never see it.”

Book One
Available nowMadison Aires + Nick Calder
She came to Hollywood to become impossible to ignore.
He decides who gets noticed.
Madison leaves South Texas with unfinished expectations behind her and one certainty: she is going to become an actress.
She's young, ambitious, quick enough to use attention before anyone can use it against her, and convinced she understands exactly how powerful men work.
Then she meets the first one she can't manipulate.
Nick Calder runs the studio's talent division — a polite way of saying he runs what happens to talent.
He has never broken a rule he wrote himself. Until her screen test.
And once he sees it, being chosen by him becomes more dangerous than rejection ever was.
Nick doesn't care about the version of Madison she performs for everyone else.
He wants the part underneath it.
The Screen Test
Dark Hollywood • Age Gap • Producer/Actress • Possessive Villain • Power Imbalance • Moral Corruption
